Founded in 2024 by Michael and Jake Long, Northern Eagle Energy is a 100% Indigenous-owned and operated wholesale distributor of fuel and lubricants.
Built on decades of leadership in both business and community, the company was established to provide reliable fuel supply while creating tangible opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. At its core, Northern Eagle Energy is about access — to energy, to partnerships, and to sustainable growth.

Meet our directors
Michael Long OAM
Michael Long is a respected national figure, known not only for his legacy as an AFL premiership player but also for his decades of leadership in Indigenous affairs, community development, and social justice. After a distinguished career with Essendon — including premiership victories in 1993 and 2000, and the Norm Smith Medal for best on ground in the 1993 Grand Final — Michael became a prominent voice for cultural recognition, reconciliation, and systemic change. He has advised governments, inspired grassroots movements, and created enduring platforms for advocacy through sport, education, and enterprise.
At Northern Eagle Energy, Michael brings his strategic vision and commitment to equity into the business landscape — championing models of economic empowerment that are Indigenous-led, future-focused, and grounded in trust and relationships. Jake Long
Jake Long plays a pivotal role in delivering on Northern Eagle Energy’s promise of reliable, values-driven service. With a background in professional sport and business, Jake leads operations with a practical, client-focused mindset. He manages supplier relationships, oversees delivery coordination, and ensures that the business runs with precision — even in complex, remote, or high-volume environments.
Jake's approach is defined by consistency, clear communication, and the ability to bridge strategic direction with day-to-day action. His lived experience in both elite performance and regional logistics gives him a deep understanding of what it takes to earn and maintain client trust. Whether partnering with multinationals or working with regional contractors, Jake brings a steady hand, a team-first ethos, and a commitment to delivering results.
